Real Experience - Good read

Well there are several reasons why I thought I should write this article. Mainly because I had cured my phimosis and wanted to tell how I did so. Secondly, I was having that disorder and feel sorry for other folks who are having it and want to help them out. This may be a bit lengthy article, but if you are having phimosis and want desperately to sort it out, I guess this would help you. There are many articles of this nature on the net, but I feel most of them are lacking in certain facts; so I bet you benefit out of this. If you feel bored or in a hurry, skip the introduction part and switch to instructions part later down the article.

Introduction

before I start I should tell a bit about myself. I am 25 year old asian and working as an engineer. I had phimosis ever since I was born and have now cured it. I never went to see a doc, no operations, didn't tell anyone, didn't spend a penny, and no medicine. Just a few weeks of time, and yes, I cured it by myself. This is my story.

The first thing that comes to my mind is how lucky we're to have this thing called internet. I mean I was chatting, downloading crap and doing all the weird stuff on the internet, but I never realized how gifted I am to have internet around until I came to this matter. Had it not been for the internet, i have never realized I have a disorder with my penis. I have seen so much porn on the net and all, and had seen thousands of erect penises (here comes the funny part) but it never came to my mind that my penis is not normal. What I thought about those guys with fully retracted penises in porn was that they all have got their penises circumcised and that's why their glands are fully visible and foreskin fully retracted. Since I had an uncut penis, I was thinking that's just the way it is. I haven't had sex with someone yet, so I am the only one who had seen my penis. Just about 3 months ago (november 2006) I saw one of my friends retracting the foreskin of his flaccid penis. I knew he was not circumcised and it puzzled my mind how on earth he could do it. Then I went home and searched on the net for the pictures of penises with uncircumcised, retracted foreskin. Then there came up a picture of a penis with glands exposing and perfectly retracted. The footnote said uncircumcised penis. Just then it was like a shock in my mind, because for 25 years I was thinking my penis was ok, and just now I found out I was dead wrong.

For some time, I was feeling really depressed and I could not think of anything to do. However, luckily, the internet was there with me and I searched and searched about the disorder that I was having. I looked at diagrams, pictures, medical jargon and all and gained knowledge as much as any doc would have. Then I came across an online forum thread where a guy has posted a question about phimosis. There were many replies, but most have recommended that going to see the gp (general practitioner) is the ideal thing. Then I thought I too should go to see my gp. I could put my embarrassment behind me because the need for curing phimosis was so intense. I even had set my mind to do the circumcision, but it was literally killing me when I thought that then I had to tell my parents and also about the possible side effects that could occur with the operation. I couldn't even imagine what it would like when the people who knows me, including my family learns about my disorder. All these times I was dying inside because of phimosis and couldn't even eat well. Then I told myself, ok, i'll first try the stretching methods and if it doesn't work, i'll have to eat the bullet and go see my gp and talk about the operation.

i knew then that if I go to see my gp, maybe I could get a prescription for a topical cream (i.E. Betamethasone or something like that) that would help the stretching. And even now I believe it does. Nevertheless, I thought of trying it out without the intervention of the doctors. So I started stretching my foreskin. On the first day, I just gave the tip of my foreskin a lateral tension about three times, nothing much. And it stung for few days and I thought this stretching ain't gonna work. But that pain went away and I started stretching again. And in less than 6 weeks, I cured my phimosis 100%. Yes, as I said in the beginning, no doctors, no operations, no embarrassment of telling anyone, no spending money, no medicine or creams, just 6 weeks and I was done with it. Based on my experiences and my knowledge which gained by reading many medical jargons and forums, I have included the things you may follow to cure phimosis.

Instructions

note that these instructions would work if you have primary phimosis (i.E. You had phimosis since your birth). If you find a certain term not familiar, search on the internet because that's from where I learned it (remember, i'm an engineer, and not a doctor). Trust me, stretching techniques work, because your body is adapted that way. Only thing is that you follow the right way, as i'm telling you. Also go to see a doctor if you're feeling unsatisfied with the stretching. But there is no reason to go to see a doctor at the beginning because you can cure it by yourself (well, most of the time). All you need is some patience and time. If you can't wait, and want to get the circumcision or dorsal slit done, go and see your gp. But remember, these surgical procedures are traumatic and can trigger undesired problems. They are irreversible and still there are many men trying to restore their foreskins.

Stretching method work well if you could do it under warm bath or at least with water or mild cream like baby oil. But it's really not necessary. I didn't use any cream, just water. If you got a steroid cream as prescribed by the doctor, you may use it, but know that it will leave a stain in your pants so if you want to be totally secretive, think again before using steroid creams. But certainly steroid creams would speed up loosening your foreskin, but again, not necessary.

First investigate the size of opening of the foreskin while it's flaccid. Hold your foreskin tip with two fingers and pull it away from your body and hold it. If you can only insert your small finger to the hole, do it. If you can insert a bigger finger or many, do it. You don't have to insert it deep inside until you feel the glands. In fact, touching glands at this stage would be quite painful as it's really sensitive. Once you have inserted one or more of your fingers, with the help of the other hand, stretch them laterally. Don't stretch too much where you feel pain, as this might develop scars and tears on the foreskin that would make the stretching difficult or impossible. You only have to do this 3-4 mins and twice per day in the morning and in the evening. There's really nothing much to it, and as each day passes you actually start to enjoy it. Within about a week, you will feel that the prepuce opening is getting bigger. Make sure that your objective at this stage is not retracting your foreskin pass your head. You should attempt this only when the prepuce opening is adequately bigger. Understanding this is really necessary or else if you start to retract the foreskin forcefully with the sole intention of getting it pass the head, the foreskin may get stuck behind your head and wouldn't return, as the prepuce opening is not yet big enough. If this happens, you will run in to a critical condition called the paraphimosis, where the supply of blood to the glands is cut off.

So what you have to do within first few weeks is really simple. Just don't try extra, it wouldn't do any good. Remember 3-4 mins and twice per day. I saw on the net people saying that you should spend about 30-40 mins per day stretching. This is false, don't make tight foreskin problem a big matter, just follow the simple steps just like I did and you'd be fine. Foreskin needs time to grow cells at the tight ring (the narrowest part in the opening) and make it bigger. Now the next important thing as the prepuce opening gets bigger is, put two fingers (index fingers) of both hands inside the opening and grab the tight ring. You would feel this ring separately from the rest of the foreskin when you put your finger. Now this tight ring is the cause of phimosis. Other parts of the foreskin really stretch sufficiently. So from this point onwards (i.E. When you are able to insert two index fingers) grab the tight ring from the inside of the foreskin and try to stretch as before. Don't exert too much tension because you might get scars. In case if you do, wait until it heals up and try again. In about a week's time, you will feel that the prepuce is big enough now. Now stop the lateral stretching using two fingers once and forever. It is now that you should attempt to retract the foreskin. Please note that the foreskin is still bit too tight and wouldn't easily retract. So, with the help of using lubrication or plain water, hold the foreskin using two hands (don't hold with one hand, as two hands can exert distributed force) and gently try to retract it. Don't try to get it pass the glands on the first day itself, just give a few days. In some sites it states that you should keep stretching laterally using two fingers. This is not bad but less effective. This is due to the fact when you do it laterally, the tension applied to the tight ring is not uniform (here's where engineering comes in handy). By forcing the tight ring against the glands, and trying to gently retract, you're applying uniform force on the circumference of the tight ring, which is the best and logical method as I think.

As you continue this, one day your foreskin will suddenly go pass the corona (the ridge) of the head. This is the first and most important breakthrough in the path to freedom. If you followed my steps with patience up to this point, you wouldn't feel any tightening so there's nothing to worry about having paraphimosis. But if you have skipped some steps, you might feel as if your shaft is squeezed by something. And you might see your penis head is swelling with reddish color. This is an indication of paraphimosis and just don't panic, try squeezing the blood out of the head. If not successful, you should go to the er.

If everything worked out as I said, when your foreskin goes past your gland for the first time, you wouldn't feel any discomfort. In fact, I was bit scared looking at my pink colored glans as I had never seen it before. It is very sensitive in the beginning and you won't even be able to touch it. When you reach this state, you may also discover lumps of whitish substances called smegma. These are pretty much stuck to the root of the corona, as you have never been able to clean it before. Rinse these lumps with water and you would be able to remove them with a soft damp cloth. Just don't try to do all things in a single day. Try removing them over a few days. Now you have reached an important stage where you can retract your foreskin when flaccid. To reduce the extra sensitivity in the glans, retract the foreskin and do your normal day's work (of course with pants up haha). The rubbing of the glans against the cloths will make it less sensitive and you'd feel more comfort as the time passes. Now's the time to move on to the last stage of curing phimosis.

Retracting your foreskin once flaccid won't help you much henceforth as the prepuce has grown to that limit. Now try the same when your penis is erect. Make your foreskin damp so that you'd have more lubrication. You won't have to reach the state of ejaculation. Just try this for a week or two. And ultimately you'd be able to retract your foreskin even when the penis is erect. It only took me 6 weeks from pure phimosis to reach this final stage. When you can retract your foreskin when erect (yeah it may still be bit tight, but don't worry) you have literally cured phimosis.

The first thing I felt once I have cured phimosis is how pretty my penis is. I even started to admire it. It was a pretty sight to see the fully retract penis with pink, glowing glans. My ejaculations were much stronger and masturbations were more enjoyable than before. The head of the penis is much bigger when it is fully retracted unlike when I had phimosis. Well, now it has been several months after I have cured my phimosis and my penis is absolutely like a normal penis. Phimosis is gone forever. Ok folks, one final word, don't be scared over phimosis; you can cure it by yourself. Good luck!

Foreskin Development for Intact Men

A good information on foreskin development from boys to men. (taken from http://www.circumstitions.com/Care.html)

Boys
The foreskin usually detaches itself from the glans and becomes retractable during babyhood and/or boyhood. The best person to discover this and encourage it is the boy himself. As it becomes retractable, the boy should be encouraged to wash underneath it, using mild soap, if any (remember, smegma is Greek for "soap"). Stronger soaps are implicated in balanitis (irritation of the glans), and particular suspicion falls on bubble baths.
Youths
If they have not done so earlier, most intact young men learn to retract their foreskins as part of masturbation.
Men
Some men have foreskins that still do not retract, and they are happy to leave them that way. If you are not (if you want it to retract for intercourse, for example) it can be freed non-surgically using an ointment (betamethasone 0.05% - or 1% hydrocortisone cream, sold over the counter under the trade name "Cortaid" or as a generic or economical store brand - applied once or twice a day to the outside of the foreskin from the tip to about mid-glans for up to eight weeks), or surgically without circumcision. If you are in the US, this means looking for a foreskin-friendly urologist. A Japanese firm, Turumaki Corp., offers a do-it-yourself foreskin stretcher, the "Glansie".

Foreskin Stretching Exercise

Came across this stretching exercise from http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/.
Hopefully , it solve your problem. Always treat circumcision as the last resort.

Stretching

The basic principle is to apply pressure to the frenar band, much as one would do to stretch an elastic band. I'll detail two exercises for phimosis, and one for frenulum breve. If you spend 5 minutes twice a day on stretching, that should be adequate. Once it's sorted, carry on for another 4 weeks afterwards to ensure it stays permanent.
The advantage of stretching is that you don't need to show your tackle to any medical professionals, and you can start doing it right now; okay, not right now if you're in an internet café or at work....

Phimosis Exercise 1

This is appropriate if you cannot get two fingers into the foreskin at the end. If you can get two fingers in, skip to exercise 2 - it's more efficient.
i) Attempt to retract the foreskin until there is some discomfort - as much as you can tolerate without being in agony.
ii) Hold for 30 seconds, then pull forwards again.
iii) Relax
Repeat this for 5 minutes. It can help to do it in the bath - the heat helps loosen things up a bit.

Phimosis Exercise 2

This assumes you can get two fingers in - if not, follow the previous exercise.
i) Insert your two index fingers into the opening of the foreskin and feel around for the phimotic ring. If you can't find it, try and retract and see which bit snags on the glans - that's the bit you want.
ii) Pull your fingers in opposing directions. Again, discomfort is okay, but not agony.
iii) Hold for 30 seconds, then pull forwards again.
As above, repeat for 5 minutes, and doing it in the bath can help.

Frenulum Stretching

The frenulum is a slippery little blighter, but it can be stretched. If you have tore your frenulum through sexual activity, let it heal before following these instructions (also, consider using a lubricant to reduce the tugging on it during sex).
i) Locate the phimotic ring (as in phimosis exercise 2)
ii) Grip the end of the frenulum which joins onto the phimotic ring between your thumb and forefinger
iii) Pull away from the body (away from the glans) until taut, and a mite uncomfortable.
iv) Hold for 30 seconds, then let go
You might need to hook your thumb around to stop the frenulum slipping away. Again, doing it in the bath can help.

Phimosis Treatment Stretching

The vast majority of tight foreskins can be loosened within a month by consistent stretching daily.
This stretching will be more effective if done during erection.
The best way to start is by warming the penis. The best time would be when you are having a hot shower. Use baby oil, lotion or any bland cream as a lubricant. However, please beware of the sensitivity of your skin. Gently pull your foreskin forward away from the body for a few times and then gently pull it back as far as it can go onto the head of the penis and let it be in this stretched position for few minutes. Done this stretching for few times a day and try to retract your foreskin everytime you pee.
Other alternative treatments for phimosis, please go to the first post.

Phimosis Treatment - Stretching

Every individual male have different severity of tight foreskin. Different condition of tight foreskin require a different type of treatment.

According to Dr. O.J. Clemmensen's findings, he concluded as below,
1) If the subject has a primary or congenital phimosis, i.e. ever since he can remember, then there is every reason to believe that gentle stretching will mobilise the elastic capacity of the skin tissue.
2) If on the other hand he can remember the phimotic ring developing then it is most probably a secondary phimosis of a lichenoid or fibrous type, such types are atrophic (prone to degeneration), they will generally be difficult to stretch. Clobetasol Propionate and other steroids may help, but recurrent problems require surgery.

If you have tight foreskin or 'phimosis' , do not worry too much. Depending on the severity, some of it can be solved by gentle stretching.
